I’m all for anything which highlights what a terrible idea smoking is, so I should be behind this attempt by stuntman Ritchie Magic to send an anti-smoking message to kids. It’s just…well…is putting out cigarettes with your tongue really the best way to communicate this idea Ritchie?

Ritchie put out 70 lit cigarettes with his tongue in 60 seconds, cramming 5 cigarettes into his mouth at a time and leaving his tongue burned and blistered.

The stunt, inspired by a new law that bans smoking in New York City parks, beaches and other public places, took place in Washington Square Park, New York on May 19th

For the next few days, Ritchie will will be on a liquid diet as his injuries make it too painful to eat, and though he admits that his message might come out as mixed, he says that he wants to use the spectacle as a warning to kids: “I put the message to the kids before my own health,” he explains. “Smoking is disgusting and terribly addicting.”

The irony? Ritchie still smokes…
