This is easily the most amazing optical illusion I have ever seen

Ok, we’ve had some fun with illusions in the past, but this is absolutely the most incredible one I’ve ever seen in my life.

I received this picture along with a note which said “Colours A and B are the same”. Not too hard to believe I thought. But then something started bugging me. I fired up Photoshop, and my suspicions were confirmed. It’s not the just the letters that are the same colour, the squares they are on are too…

Now I know you’re going to find this hard to believe, I checked it 4 times on Photoshop before I began to accept it (and to be honest I’m still struggling), but it’s true.

The illusion works because the brain is programmed to interpret colours differently if they are in the shade of an object. Even if that shade is an illusion. Print it out, use your photoshop skills, amaze yourself and then blow the minds of your friends. The image below, believe it or not, is what the squares look like when they’re cut out of the original image. Oh brain, you’re funny…
