Anyone who had to live through the experience of their parents giving them the “birds and the bees” talk will probably find this pretty obvious, but today The Independent reports that according to a major new survey, teenagers would be better off learning about sex from older teenagers than from adults.
Half of pupils aged 13 to 17 who took part in the ComRes survey said they felt awkward asking their teachers questions about sexual matters and the same number said that they had not learnt enough. However, two-thirds said that they would feel comfortable talking about sex if the lesson were led by an older teenager.
Why anyone imagines that their child is actually going to pay attention to sex-education from their weird-smelling teacher is beyond me anyway. WE HAVE THE INTERNET PEOPLE!
