We’ve all those seen mysterious apparitions of faces in unexpected places. Jesus’ face appearing on a slice of toast or Elvis showing up in an unfortunately placed rash, that kind of thing. But I’m willing to bet that you’ve never seen one quite this disturbing before.

The picture above is an ultrasound scan of a 45 year-old man’s testicle. He went to the doctor complaining of severe pain in his groin and when he was scanned, doctors found a benign mass in his scrotum which they removed. They were however, unable to explain the clear image of what looks like a startled or pained face:

“The residents and staff alike were amazed to see the outline of a man’s face staring up out of the image, his mouth agape as if the face seen on the ultrasound scan itself was also experiencing severe epididymo-orchitis. A brief debate ensued on whether the image could have been a sign from a deity (perhaps ‘Min,’ the Egyptian god of male virility); however, the consensus deemed it a mere coincidental occurrence rather than a divine proclamation.”

Freaky. Then again, if you found yourself encased in a 46 year-old’s testicles, you’d probably look a little startled too..
